This film ‘Badava Rascal’ is in no way ‘Badava’ (Poor) in giving wholesome family entertainment. It is like an assorted sweet box with pepper and chilly spread cashew nuts in the box. ‘Badava Rascal’ , an affectionate scolding is so apt for the film filled with various emotions.
Director Shankar Guru has done a fine job in mixing various emotions and the artists contribution, technicians josh especially camera woman Preetha and music composer Vasuki Vybhav steal the show in their departments.
The protagonist Shankara with his friends is the first high point. A middle class youth with an MBA degree, Shankara wants his dreams to materialize. With very good qualifications, he represents the Auto driver profession. He is darling among them and reminds the superstars who have donned the Auto Driver roles.
He has very caring parents, good friends and a girl friend. It is dejection for Shankara when his fiancé rejects him but what doles out in direction perception is interesting. It has a simple story but sensitively narrated keeping in view the image of Dhananjay.
Director Shankar Guru seems to have seen hard realities in his life. He has combined the film for all class – elders, lovers, youths, friends would throng to the theaters to watch this film ‘Badava Rascal’.
Actor of high prominence today for his first production has provided everything needed for the film. Dhananjay right from ‘Jayanagara 4th Block’ short film to this day is sincere in his profession. He delivers his best and remains the right choice in most of the cases.
Amrutha Iyengar is talented and beautiful, gives a good performance and she represents the majority of lovers of her age and strata in the society.
The best couple award on the silver screen goes to Rangayana Raghu and Thara Anuradha. With ease and natural flavor the performance of the two comes out on the silver screen. Nagabhushan of IKKAT film fame comes with a convincing performance.
Vasuki Vybhav scoring is quite impressive and even more impressive is Preetha Jayaraman (of Aidondla Aidu, Oggarane and Adhi Lakshmi Purana) cinematography. She had a variety of locations and Navarasas to capture in her camera.
Editing, dialogues and costume department strikes in this ‘Badava Rascal’ film.
It is an easy paisa vasool cinema and family audiences enter the cinema halls for a variety of experiences.
